Supporting Our Band Program – Why Fundraising Matters
Dear Band Parents and Families,
We hope this message finds you well! As we move forward in the school year, we want to take a moment to share how important our fundraising efforts are for your student and the success of our band program—and why your participation truly makes a difference.
The band program provides incredible opportunities for your student to learn teamwork, responsibility, leadership, and the joy of making music together. To keep providing high quality opportunities, we rely on the support of our families and community through fundraising.
Fundraising helps us cover essential costs beyond what the school budget can provide (including the bond-related projects), and include:
- Instruments and equipment maintenance
- Music arrangement and learning materials
- Festival and performance fees
- Band Trailer Maintenance
- Guest instructors and enrichment opportunities
Last year, thanks to your generosity and effort, we raised over $18,500 total through our fall coupon book and coffee sales, 2 can and bottle drives, the scrap metal drive, Trivia Night, the Mattress Sale, and the Evening of Jazz.
Only $8,500 of that went to the booster’s general fund.
This year (2025-2026), our general fund fundraising goal is $11,000 and we really believe that is attainable!
Reaching this goal requires participation from every family—not just financially, but through involvement and encouragement. Volunteering at fundraisers, spreading the word, or helping your student take part all make a real difference. When every family contributes, we build a stronger, more successful band program for our children together.
One of our biggest fundraisers, The Evening of Jazz, occurs every March, and we’re counting on everyone’s support to make it a success. This community event is a showcase for the Middle and High School Jazz Bands that benefits every band student in all grades! We encourage all band students to come support their peers and friends and families to come bid on items to raise funds.
Last year (March, 2025), we raised $2,586 (net total) with our silent auction with winning bids averaging 75% of the item’s value. This year, our goal is for that average winning bid to be 115%. That’s a lofty goal but remember, these bids help support the students. More details about Evening of Jazz will be sent home as the event nears, but please know that your involvement—whatever form it takes—truly helps the entire band community thrive.
We are also looking for help organizing and collecting donations for the event. If you are interested, please contact the boosters here. No planning experience necessary!
From one parent to another, THANK YOU for all that you do to support your student and our band program. Together, we can ensure that music continues to be a meaningful and memorable part of every student’s school experience.
With Appreciation,
Your Band Booster team
